Renaissance Reredos for the Cathedral

The Cathedral of New Bergen has just had a new reredos installed in the apse of the Cathedral behind the high altar. The reredos has artwork from the famed Maesta altarpiece by Duccio di Buoninsegna from the early 14th century on the lower and upper portions. On the bottom are the Scenes from the Passion of Christ and the top is of the Blessed Virgin Mary surrounded by saints and angels. Don't forget to stop into the Cathedral to see it next time you are visiting. More updates to follow.

New Altar for Cathedral

Today a new altar was installed in the New Bergen Cathedral to replace the temporary altar that was installed two weeks ago. The new altar is made of mahogany and was handcrafted by the Archbishop himself. The Church hierarchy is also currently planning the dedication ceremony for the Cathedral but no date has yet been announced. Regular services will be scheduled after the dedication of the Cathedral and will be open to the public. Updates to follow.

Immigration and Consolodation Discussed

Fair Citizens of New Bergen,
It is my pleasure to report to you that his Majesty has recently met with the Prime Minister. Their discussion involved issues of immigration to the Realm. The Kingdom is moving towards consolodating its colonial holdings into the commonwealth and relocating the capital to New Bergen. This is still in the planning stages, and there are many details yet to work out to make the transition seamless, including the proper authorities for the smooth intigration and operation of the Kingdom as a whole. All roles are of great importance to the success of the colony, but the following nine have been identified as critical:
Security - Responsible for keeping griefing to a minimum
Education - Responsible for operating the university
Art - Responsible for promoting the arts
Community events - Responsible for all community events such as Royal Balls, exhibits, openings and so on.
Communication - Responsible for all public communication channels of the colony
Spiritual affairs - Responsible for all religious issues of the colony
Immigration - Responsible for assisting people through the naturalization process
Civil Engineering - Responsible for all the building and scripting
Interior - Responsible for all internal government needs, such as human resources
Of these positions, three have been filled (art, spiritual affairs and civil engineering) and a fourth (communications) is in the process of being filled as I write this. If a citizen of New Bergen wishes to apply for one of the remaining cabinet positions, he or she may apply with the Prime Minister, newly arrived on Second Life, himself. He is known by "Monsignor Shostakovich" in that world. Please be aware of the added responsibilities to Crown and Kingdom that go along with the position.

Royal Couple Hosted At Chancellors Private Home

The Royal Couple was received and hosted to a private party by the University Chancellor.

The Chancellor and his wife greeted the Royal Couple dressed in their finest, and treated them to a tour of their extensive grounds. Her Majesty was very impressed with the gardens, and with the Chancellors wife, K1 Timeless. Sources close to the Royal Couple offered, on condition of annonimity, to confirm that the Queen has planned a shopping trip with K1.

Due to competing scheduled events the Royal Couple had to leave earlier than anyone would have liked. In all it seemed a good time was had by everyone and the Royal Couple hopes to be frequent visitors to the Chancellor Home.
